Helping breast cancer patients and their families thrive, not just survive.

We assist with the financial difficulties breast cancer can bring and have established integrative medical treatment scholarships for patients and care givers. We also work in partnership with local businesses to provide services for breast cancer families.

Harry Lozinski lost his wife and best friend, Roberta, to breast cancer in 2015.

“Ugh,” Roberta said. “I hate pink!” This was her first response to being diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a tough battle, undergoing some of the most painful and aggressive cancer treatments available, but through it all Roberta remained joyful, grounded in faith, hope, and love.

Their five-year battle with breast cancer taught Harry and his family many things, and left them with the determination to support other patients and their families; to help them navigate the journey of breast cancer – a journey no one asks for.

It was going to be a different kind of nonprofit, one that included close interaction with breast cancer patients and their families; one that would make sure financial burdens would not weigh on them as these families experienced all the other stressors that came with the breast cancer journey; one that would provide an oasis in the storm.

Established in 2017, Roberta’s Legacy seeks to emulate Roberta’s enduring qualities of faith, hope and love and extend the legacy Roberta left, carrying it into our community for the people who need us most.

Life changes so much from the time someone is diagnosed with breast cancer to when they begin treatment and are further down the road. In the beginning, you don’t know what you’re getting into or what might be helpful; later, support, comfort and help in many ways – not just financially – are needed.

But it’s hard to ask.

At Roberta’s Legacy, we know breast cancer can be a lonely journey, and isolating at times. We want our care to be a comfort, a rock to lean on; we want breast cancer families to know they’re loved and that someone is on their side.

OUR PURPOSE

To nurture personal relationships with those living with breast cancer, providing individualized care and resources through a community of donors and partners.

OUR IMPACT

Roberta’s Legacy helps patients and their families get back on their feet; we provide financial assistance for integrative treatments, rent, groceries, car payments, gas, medical bills, and more.

100% of donations made to Roberta’s Legacy go directly to breast cancer patients and their families.

Roberta’s Legacy delivered kits to families to decorate cookies for Halloween.

“I was too tired to actually bake cookies even though I had promised. You helped each one of us in a different way. I don’t know what I would do without you. I feel so loved, and so do my kids. Thank you for recognizing what our needs really are.”

– M.

Roberta’s Legacy provided a family with build-a-bear gift cards so she could record personal messages in the bears to each of her grandkids and kids.

“We used the bears we had made for the grandkids to tell them she had passed away but made them something first and ever one of them loved it and fell asleep with it! You are responsible for allowing us to be able to do something with so much love and meaning, thank you! I can’t even explain what you have done for us the last 4 years. I always knew someone was there for us. You honored every request I ever had.”

– C.

I was living in my car and behind on payments. Afraid I would lose my home and vehicle (my means of making income). Diagnosed with breast cancer and going through chemo. Then you guys step in and pay off my car and take away that burden and I can’t even put into words what that means.”

– Angie

I wanted to say thank you again for saving us! There are no words to describe our gratitude. Because of you and so many, we were able to stay in our place for another month. That month was the bridge to getting us to where we need to be. We would have had to leave everything including our home. Chris got an eight month contract for work. If it hadn’t been for you we would be out of our home. It is difficult for me to convey how grateful we are. I am sending so many hugs to you and everyone who kept us with a roof over our heads. Thank you!!!”

HARRY LOZINSKI

FOUNDER

To emulate and carry on Roberta’s legacy of faith, hope, and love. I also feel called to walk beside those experiencing financial difficulties because of their breast cancer journey.

AMY WILLARD

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I saw the devastation and heartache that breast cancer caused my family, and I want to ease any burdens from those on the same journey. I want people to feel like they always have someone in their corner that they can rely on. I want to continue Mom’s legacy in showing people love, support, and care.

LISA KNIPP

BUSINESS SUPPORT

I wanted to be an integral part of my community (after the corporate life) and join an organization that genuinely made a difference to those needing support, understanding and love during the valleys of their life. Roberta’s Legacy is just that organization, making such an in difference to those in the breast cancer journey and their families.

ANANDA BADET

BOARD MEMBER

I joined Roberta’s Legacy because it is a group that offers more direct, personal support and love than any organization I have encountered. As an oncology nurse, I get to know many people with breast cancer, their families, friends and medical teams. They have all taught me so much about living with grace, grit and gratitude. Working with Roberta’s Legacy, I am honored to be part of the family of cancer fighters.

PAUL DESCHENES

BOARD MEMBER

Breast cancer affected my wife in 2022 and because of that journey, I recognized the community support that was necessary outside of medical treatment to help breast cancer patients and their families maintain their quality of life. I found and became involved with Roberta’s Legacy because of their mission to support this cause in this way.

JENNIFER GRIM

AMY MURDOCH

BOARD MEMBER

It is important to me to be a part of a group that significantly helps the people of our community by taking away some of the unknowns they have as a result of breast cancer.

CINDY NOBLE

BOARD MEMBER

I believe there is a group of women who need assistance that is not provided anywhere else, and that Roberta’s Legacy is a unique vehicle to lighten the load of patients and the families of patients with breast cancer.

DAWN PAVOT

BOARD MEMBER

I work in healthcare with peripheral involvement in the care of those with cancer and felt the need for a more personal connection to them and their families. For over 20 years, my husband and I have lived, worked and raised our children in Longmont and I want to serve our community in a meaningful way.

DEBBI STAPP

BOARD MEMBER

I am involved with many wonderful non-profits and I chose to be on the Roberta’s Legacy board because of their approach to support those with breast cancer. Roberta’s Legacy treats everyone as an individual and gives support based on each person’s/family’s needs rather than working off of a menu of limited options.  Breast cancer is horrible, each journey is personal, and Roberta’s Legacy recognizes that.

MAGGIE YORK

BOARD MEMBER

I watched my grandmother battle breast cancer and witnessed firsthand how difficult the journey is. Roberta’s Legacy helps reduce the burden on families and gives them hope during their journey.
